How am I already posting a preview for STATE!? This season seemed to zip by and we have six programs that are returning to the state floor in either style after a five+ year hiatus. I cannot wait to feel the energy of Target Center, hear each team’s fans go absolutely wild as their programs take the floor, see the camaraderie that has been established and continues to grow between competitors, see all these moments be captured by our talented spectator and team photographers/videographers, and cheer on each and every team as they live their best lives center floor. This sport and the talent these athletes provide through athleticism, artistry and entertainment should be celebrated so be sure to cheer everyone on (and REMAIN SEATED) during any teams performance.
However once again medals and titles are up for grabs and there are so many talented teams that it’s going to be a fight just to make it to finals for many. This year scores seem closer than normal and there have been a number of teams moving up and down the ranks as they everyone continues to bring season best performances. That is what I love about this sport: the athletes and the coaches continue to level-up and raise the bar for the playing field year after year.
Below you will find a preview of the order or performance . Please note that the State Leaderboard averages represent a team’s section score along with their two most recent regular season scores. The State Leaderboard is meant to further highlight how the scoresheet is evaluated and how an individual team has been scoring. It is not meant and cannot be meant to be a perfect science of comparing one team to another. Every competition is scored independently. For example, in Football or Soccer you can have variables that can affect a team’s performance (field conditions, health conditions, etc.). Dance Team also has factors unique to the sport that can affect how a team is scored (number of competitors, order of competition, number of officials, etc.). Please keep this in mind as you reference the State Leaderboard or read through the previews.
As a spectator and dance team enthusiast I wish every athlete and coach a big Good Luck this weekend! You already won by being able to finish your season on the state floor. This site and this writeup is meant to further highlight and champion the visibility and education of this sport that we often see with other sports through various sites and publications.
